Hello! I’m TJ. I have spent a lot of years of my life hunting and fishing. My interest in foraging has also been growing over the past few years. I’d like to share my knowledge and opinions on these with you.

It is my never-ending quest to outsmart the smartest, oldest and largest boss tom I can find. During the spring you will always find me deep in the forest, in search of turkeys. It is a passion. It is an addiction.

My passion for turkey hunting extends into my life in various ways. I am a National Wild Turkey Federation member and also sit on the California NWTF State Board. I volunteer my time to fund-raise for them as well as teach kids about wild turkeys and turkey hunting. The conservation work that the NWTF has done nationally, and continues to do, is simply amazing. Their work positively impacts many small and large game species, not just wild turkeys. If you want to make a difference, join the NWTF!

Why Hunting, Fishing and Foraging

I spend my time following the seasons the rest of the year. If I am not hunting, fishing or foraging you can bet I am probably scouting or researching what is in season next. These activities consume my life. They require considerable effort, an effort that I immensely enjoy. It has also provided a considerable amount of sustainable, organic protein for our household. In fact, we purchase very little meat from the grocery.

My day job is software programmer. This career has me sitting at a desk every day, all day. It also revolves around deadlines and other stressful events. Being outdoors has been a considerable factor in reducing my stress, staying healthy and allowing me to keep my sanity.

I built this site to teach others about the value of the wild bounty available to us. If you have ideas for articles, or just have questions, feel free to contact me.
